Self-adhesive and label producer UPM Raflatac has launched a renewed labelstock portfolio for wine and spirits applications in the Americas. These materials are designed to showcase vital brand information and create an upscale appearance to help influence consumer purchasing decisions. UPM Raflatac’s wine and spirits product range includes coated, uncoated, textured and metallized paper materials as well as foil and film constructions. Wet strength additive (WSA) face papers – like Silvervac WSA – feature a wet strength and alkali-resistant treatment that allows labels to remain intact during the bottle-washing process, so machinery stays unobstructed and productive. The company’s labelstocks constructed with clear film faces, which it says are the thinnest in the industry, paired with a water-whitening resistant adhesive support the exclusive no-label look highly sought after by end-users. When compared to direct printing on the bottle, these products allow for unique embellishment techniques, quick design changes and greater flexibility for managing stocks. Materials with textured and embossed face papers create an artisan or antique effect. These allow a connection with customers on a tactile level. Meanwhile, metallized and foil labelstocks make a high visual impact, presenting premium imagery and boosting consumer value perception. UPM Raflatac’s new Eclipse Black labelstocks are specifically designed for high-end printing and to promote wine makers’ sustainability goals. These products feature a smooth, premium, ultra-black face paper comprised of 30% post-consumer waste, which open up a world of color-rich branding opportunities and support environmental commitment. “The products in our renewed wine and spirits portfolio are ideal for a variety of printing techniques and complementary embellishments,” says Daryl Northcott, prime business director of UPM Raflatac, Americas. “The label is a vital differentiator in these markets in terms of shelf appeal and quality perception, so we have designed our materials to be highly visual, functional and sustainable to help brand owners put their best face forward.”
